Still time to get one from Chicago

Well, the rain came and the game was cancelled.  No one knows what might have been, as both pitchers had yet to give up a run.  In any case, the game will be made up at some other point.

The best news is, of course, that the Brewers lost.  So for doing nothing other than playing 3 innings of rain soaked ball, we gained a 1/2 game.  That means we´re now just 3 games behind the Brewers.  And of course we´re still 4 games behind the Cubs who now lead the division.

This is an important game tonight.  To be able to pull within 3 games of Chicago would be huge.  Because the alternative of dropping to 5 games would be devastating.

I know we´re playing at Wrigley.  I know we´re playing against a 13 game winner.  And I know we´ve had some bad breaks and calls the last couple of days, but hopefully that all stops tonight.  The Cardinals can certainly win this game and they need to in order to stay in this hunt.

3 games can easily be made up in the next few weeks of baseball.  Ideally, the Cardinals would be tied for the lead or ahead the time we face the Brewers and the Cubs next month.

The biggest question and the one that probably will decide the game is: Can Piñeiro come up big again?  We´ll find out soon.

Let´s win at Wrigley,

Tiffany
