Hey, you think maybe we could pack the bats for the road trip?

Let’s hope they remember to because they’ve sure been missing the last few games.

Yes, it’s only a game, only three games, only the first series of the season, etc. And I definitely agree. Of course it’s nothing for a team to come back this early in the season, but as a fan…..I still don’t enjoy watching our guys get pounded for three straight games, no matter when in the season it takes place.

It’s so frustrating to watch such talented guys like Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Duncan, Eckstein…..the list goes on and on…..not be able to string some walks, hits, stolen bases, etc. together to make some noise and score some runs. As with most teams, hitting in St. Louis tends to be contagious. I just feel if one or two guys could get hot, the Cardinals would start making something happen.

And what is with the defense? Normally, this is something the Redbirds pride themselves on. I know it’s not easy to see in lights, but come on. They’re starting to look like little leaguers on there in the outfield.

As it is, I don’t even want to think about this series or the New York Mets. I just want to see the Cardinals put it behind them and go into Houston with the desire to win and to hit the ball hard. The ‘Stros are off the same horrid start we are (0-3), but the difference is their deficit is at the hands of the Pirates. Ouch. At least we lost to the team with the best NL record last year. Then again, at least they’ve scored runs. Hmm….I guess I don’t know which is worse.

As for me, I don’t have to work this Friday (yeah!) as it is Easter weekend. "Semana Santa" or "Holy Week" is a huge deal here in Spain, even to those who aren’t particularly religious. I’m going to head up north for a much needed weekend vacation and where I’m going, I doubt I’ll have much contact with the oustide world

I’ll miss the games on Friday and Saturday for sure and possibly Sunday, depending on what time I get back in town. I will definitely check the scores Sunday night once I’m back, but as you all know, the scores don’t always tell the whole story. So if anything awesome, horrible, surprising, funny or interesting happens in baseball while I’m gone, I would appreciate you guys keeping me informed with a post or two! Especially anything to do with the Cardinals.

And now……let’s go get Houston.

Happy Easter,
Tiffany

    William,
Yeah 0-3 was not a fun place to be. The Cardinal bats are starting to get going though.

    Rob,

A sweep shouldn’t be too hard to come by against the Pirates. Really, even a series win would be ok a this point. But, like you said to come home over .500…..that would be awesome.
