It’s ours.

Everybody will be saying it, but I need to say it as well.

The St. Louis Cardinals are the 2006 World Series Champions!!

It’s nearly 6:00am here and I haven’t slept in almost 24 hours, but I’m not the least bit tired.  What a game.  What a series.  What a team.  And for them to get to celebrate in St. Louis.

I’m so excited.  I can’t even make sense right now.  As a baseball fan, this is what you wait the whole year for, your whole life for and it’s hard to believe that it’s here.

Congratulations to David Eckstein as the MVP.  He got the right hits at the right time and scored a ton of runs.  But what a team effort as well.  Weaver tonight and the wins we got out of Soup, Carp, Reyes.  Great defense and key hits.

I’m just so estatic.  I love this team.

Currently partying like it’s 1982,

Tiffany

You should keep a hard file of this blog. Great story from beginning to triumph!!
    WOO HOO from my Grandpa!!!

Ummm..1982 lets see, I was 8 years old. Whitey Herzog was the man in the dugout. That team was known for defense and speed. Bruce Sutter, Keith Hernandez, Ozzie Smith, Joaquin Andujar, Bob Forsch, Darryl Porter, Tom Herr, Willie McGee and others gave the great city of St. Louis something to cherish for life, a World Series title. Now we’ve come to know a new breed of Redbirds under Tony LaRussa. Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen, Jim Edmonds, Chris Carpenter, Jeff Suppan, ect. People can forget about what happened in ’85,’87’, and the collapse in ’04. This is a greatful feeling to know that the Cards are world champs on (beisbol) baseball. I can just see Jack Buck smiling down on the Redbirds from heaven. Like Buck would say after every broadcast, “So long for just a while”.

I didn’t scream; didn’t yell… I put my hands on my head, said out loud, “OMG, they did it! They did it!”, then collapsed on the floor and started to cry, wishing my father was still alive to see this. I know that he was with me in spirit, though.

Congrats, Tiffany. Maybe you won’t be the Tiffany displaying the trophy, but I hope you get to see it up close some day. Like I said before, it’s awesome.

Hmmm. The one I saw was the ’89 A’s trophy, LaRussa managed that team as well.

Do tell what the folks in Madrid think of your Partying Like It’s 1982!

WOOOOHOOOO! I still don’t know what to say. I can’t believe we did it. I mean I’d been saying “As long as we make it to the post season we have a chance” but I still can’t believe it actually happened. GO CARDS!

    Michael,
Thanks. It certainly was a fun ride for us Cards fans.

    Jay,

Thanks. I know I’m biased but I also thought this team really deserved to win with how they fought so hard.

    Julie,

Yes!! Feels good to be a Redbirds fan, doesn’t it?!

    Kaylee,

Oh yes. There was much screaming at my house as well. And I’ll definitely come check out your blog. Thanks for the link.

    Kerry,

Glad the team could make your grandpa proud. Go Cardinals!

    OzziePujols,

I like you because you mentioned Tommy Herr, my all-time favorite player. This season does have an 80s ring to it, doesn’t it?

    Bruce,

It was unbelievable. Even after the last out, it was like, ‘did that really just happen?’

    Kellia,

I’d love to see the trophy someday. And the Spainards? They think I’m crazy. I was trying to explain to some friends the importance of this. “It’s bigger to me than Spain winning the World Cup.”

    Benjamin,

What a season, eh? We all believed and yet….were in disbelief when it happened.

    Steven,

Well, I loved the old stadium and very much did not want them to tear it down. But they did and since then I’ve only been to the new stadium once. But it was awesome. That and the fact that I never saw them win it all at the old stadium and they won it in the first year of the new stadium….I’ll have to go new.

Wow. Just Wow. I was pulling all year and it’s been almost a week but I still can’t believe. What a time to kill my blog. Oh well, this blog has been perfect, from it’s title to it’s coverage. congratulations, tiff. They did it.

Did you decide about the name yet? I like the ring of “party like it’s 1982”, but the cardinals have just made it obsolete!

Let’s hope the Cards repeat. If ESPN says it will never happen, I like our chances.

I suppose if I refer to a logo on a website that would make you cringe, I should supply the URL.

BTW, congrats on the Gold Glove for Scott Rolen. You must be extra thrilled. And if the Spaniards don’t get what winning the World Series means, they certainly won’t understand the significance of a Gold Glove.

But it makes me all the more thrilled to have seen Eric Byrnes smash a couple of balls past Scott in May.

    Kaylee,
Yes, I liked it. But there was only one Cardinal post! πŸ™‚ Will there be more??

    Kellia,

Hmmm. I don’t think I can tolerate a Cardinal fan selling out his team like that. What a shame. And yes, I was estatic to see Scotty Rolen pick up yet another gold glove. Icing on the cake!

    Marc,

Have not decided about the name. I put it up to a vote in my latest post, so come and vote your opinion. Thanks for your kind words about the blog. It was a lot of fun this year.

    Mark,

I’m leaving it up the to blog readers because I can’t decide what it should be. As for the Spheroid, I think I am probably shutting down my blog, so it won’t matter. But, maybe next year, eh?

    Everyone,

    Go Cardinals!!

Congrats on the World Championship. As a White Sox fan, I selfishly wish it was us again, but I’m happy for Cub Killers and ex-Sox skipper Tony LaRussa. He did a great job, as did your team. Eckstein proves his worth time and again, and your pitching was a lot better than I gave it credit for.

    Kaylee,
    Ok, thanks.

    Thomas,

Appreciate the congrats. And don’t worry….I don’t think ANYONE gave our staff that much credit.

I know this is old stuff, but here goes anyway…

Anyone know where I can get a video of game 2, 2006 world series?

    Joe

  14. tiffk99

    Joe,
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll try to help. When you say video, do you mean you want a DVD or are you looking to watch it online or to download it? And if you’re wanting it on DVD, is it alright if it has the other games on it as well? If you give me these specifics, I think I can point you in the right direction.

P.S. Your name reminds me of, “That’s amazing. You can spell fox? Can you spell dog? F-O-X.” πŸ™‚
